In the latest Chardham Yatra update, the Yamunotri highway remains blocked even after three days due to multiple landslides and road washouts. Hundreds of pilgrims heading towards Yamunotri are still stranded along the route. Local residents have stepped in to provide free food and shelter to the affected travelers, as no administrative officer has yet reached the spot.
Gangotri Route Functioning Normally
While the Yamunotri route remains disrupted, the Gangotri route is open and operating smoothly. Pilgrimage to Gangotri Dham is continuing without major interruptions, according to officials.
Temporary Ban on Chardham Yatra Lifted
In a major Chardham Yatra update, the state government has lifted the temporary ban on the pilgrimage that was imposed due to heavy rain and red alerts issued by the weather department. District magistrates have now been given the authority to regulate the flow of pilgrims based on the local weather situation in their areas.
Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed that the 24-hour restriction on the yatra has been withdrawn. The government is prioritizing the safety of devotees on all yatra routes. Over 19,000 pilgrims have visited the Char Dhams and Hemkund Sahib in the last day, while 2,684 devotees have registered offline for the journey.
Pilgrims Advised to Stay Updated
Pilgrims are advised to stay informed through official weather and travel advisories before beginning their journey. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, especially along the Yamunotri route, and restoration work is being carried out on a priority basis.
