The rising water level of the Alaknanda River in Uttarakhand Rudraprayag has triggered concerns among locals and devotees. A small temple and a statue of Lord Shiva situated near the riverbank have been submerged, raising anxiety among pilgrims and residents alike.

Pilgrims Resume Journey to Kedarnath Despite Weather Concerns

Despite earlier instructions to halt the Char Dham Yatra due to adverse weather forecasts, the pilgrimage resumed on Monday morning. As per official data, a total of 7,936 pilgrims departed for Kedarnath by 3 PM under tight security arrangements. By late evening, most had safely reached the holy shrine.

Additionally, 8,400 devotees returned to Sonprayag after having darshan of Baba Kedar, marking a successful and safe round of the yatra amidst challenging conditions.

Commissioner Revokes Yatra Ban, Issues District-Level Weather Instructions

Earlier on Monday, the state administration had announced a temporary suspension of the Char Dham Yatra. However, by 8 AM, the Garhwal Commissioner reversed the decision, allowing local district officials to regulate the yatra based on real-time weather updates.

Rain Continues, Authorities Take Precautions

Light but consistent rain has continued in Uttarakhand Rudraprayag. Starting from 9 AM, under the direction of District Magistrate Prateek Jain, pilgrims were allowed to proceed from Sonprayag toward Kedarnath. Due to landslide-prone zones near Munkatiya and the shuttle parking area on the Gaurikund Highway, police and security personnel ensured the safe passage of all pilgrims.

Local authorities are on high alert as rainfall continues, and travelers have been advised to remain cautious and follow official advisories.
